Legislation in the different parts of the UK relating to the need to install fire sprinklers, and their possible trade offs with other Building Control requirements, are also discussed. It is suitable for consulting engineers, architects, building control officers, insurers, fire prevention officers, building and facilities management teams, and specifiers of fire protection systems. The CIBSE course covers the entire standard and aims to provide an understanding of the design of these systems. The standard for Residential fire sprinklers has just been completely revised and is known as BS9251:2021. All buildings over 30m high and all blocks of flats over 11m high in England now have to be protected by a sprinkler system. Other regulations apply in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Residential fire sprinklers are becoming much more common in recent years particularly after the Grenfell Tower disaster in June 2017 which killed 72 people and has led to wide ranging changes to Building Control requirements. *Please note our membership rate is only for individual members.
